Clear Your Calendar for the Grand Opening

It’s finally happening, sooner than many of us expected! After months of waiting through delays, rebids, resurfacing, and unpredictable weather, the Miley Pickleball Complex is about to open. Thanks to Councilwoman Melinda Doucet, who informed us of the official date, and Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, who helped keep the project moving through every challenge, local pickleball players will soon have a first-class venue to enjoy. You can catch up on the construction progress in our detailed April 2025 update.

What to Expect on Miley Pickleball Ribbon Cutting Day

The Miley Pickleball ribbon cutting ceremony promises more than just speeches and photos. Be prepared for:

  • Free open play immediately following the ceremony
  • Opportunities to meet fellow pickleball players from around Jefferson Parish
  • A firsthand look at the nine covered courts, complete with new nets, painted surfaces, and pending fan and light installations

Why the Miley Pickleball Ribbon Cutting Matters

This isn’t just another opening, it’s a milestone for Jefferson Parish pickleball. By adding these nine courts, the parish is responding to surging demand. Pickleball players now have a dedicated, shaded facility to enjoy league play, tournaments, and casual games without battling tennis schedules or harsh weather conditions.

Paddle Stacking Will Manage Court Rotations

According to Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, the Miley Pickleball Complex will utilize a paddle stacking system to manage court rotations during open play. This method ensures fairness and smooth flow by allowing players to stack paddles in line, with games rotating systematically. Exciting News: Pontiff Playground Expansion Confirmed

In even more great news for the local pickleball community, Jefferson Parish has officially put the Pontiff Playground Pickleball Courts project out for bid. This means that four additional free public courts are coming soon to Metairie!

Celebrate the Community Effort Behind the Miley Pickleball Complex

Although this project took longer than originally expected, the Ribbon Cutting is more than just a grand opening, it’s a celebration of the hard work, persistence, and community spirit that made it possible. This event offers a great opportunity to come out, network, and experience the inclusive, welcoming vibe that defines the pickleball community.

It’s also a chance to recognize and thank the many people who initiated this plan and pushed it through to completion. From passionate players advocating for more courts, to Jefferson Parish officials like Councilwoman Melinda Doucet and Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng who championed the project through every hurdle, this facility exists because of their dedication, and their teams. Jefferson Parish desperately needed more pickleball courts, and thanks to these efforts, players now have a beautiful new venue to enjoy for years to come.

Let’s make sure we show our appreciation, both by thanking those who made this complex a reality and by making full use of the fantastic courts they’ve delivered for the community.

How to Prepare for the Miley Pickleball Complex Opening
