Paddletek Reserve HoneyFoam No.001: What Happened Next
Updated August 2026: When Paddletek launched Reserve HoneyFoam No.001, the interesting question was not just whether a limited paddle would sell. It was whether Paddletek was using a small batch to test technology that could eventually become something bigger.
Now we have a much better answer.
Honeyfoam did not stay inside No.001. Paddletek has since expanded the technology into its mainline Honeyfoam family, including the Honeyfoam TKO-X and Honeyfoam ESQ.
The short version: Reserve HoneyFoam No.001 matters more as an early look at Paddletek’s Honeyfoam platform than as a scarce paddle. The limited release got the attention. What Paddletek kept tells us more.
What Was Paddletek Reserve HoneyFoam No.001?
Paddletek introduced Reserve as a small-batch innovation line for new materials and construction ideas. HoneyFoam No.001 was the first paddle released under that program.
Paddletek described No.001 as an all-foam paddle built around a proprietary multi-foam floating core intended to increase dwell time, expand the sweet spot and create a smoother, more forgiving response.

But “foam core” is not really the interesting part by itself. By 2026, foam-core paddles were already becoming their own category. What made the Honeyfoam construction worth watching was where Paddletek used the different foams and what that allowed the core to do.
The design used a low-density EPP center with EVA foam concentrated around roughly the 4-to-8-o’clock area instead of simply wrapping the entire center in one thick EVA ring. The EPP continued down through the throat toward the handle. That layout appears designed to leave the upper portion freer to flex while the EVA section helps add structure and energy return.
That is a much more interesting experiment than simply replacing polypropylene honeycomb with foam.

Why the Limited Release Was Interesting
When I first wrote about HoneyFoam No.001, I looked at Reserve less like a normal paddle launch and more like a product experiment.
My thinking was pretty simple: make fewer of them, get the construction onto real courts, and see whether the idea deserves another paddle.
The real test would come afterward.
- Would Honeyfoam disappear when the first Reserve release faded?
- Would Paddletek keep experimenting with the construction?
- Would Honeyfoam eventually move into paddles built for a larger audience?
The third one ended up telling us the most.
What Happened Next: Honeyfoam Became a Product Family
Paddletek did not leave Honeyfoam inside the Reserve experiment.
The current lineup includes the elongated Honeyfoam TKO-X and standard-shape Honeyfoam ESQ. Paddletek now describes Honeyfoam itself as a technology first introduced through Reserve before moving into the company’s mainline.
The current construction still centers on a low-density EPP core, EVA foam positioned from roughly 4 to 8 o’clock, and perimeter foam. The basic architectural idea survived even as Paddletek moved Honeyfoam into new shapes and a broader product family.

Sellout speed is a demand signal. Product-line survival is a technology signal.
How the Original Honeyfoam Actually Played
Looking back at the early testing, one thing becomes pretty clear: players could actually feel what the construction was doing.
Across the early testing I looked at, the same few traits kept coming up: a softer, plush response, a lot of dwell time and easy access to spin. The thinner 14 mm version was generally described as livelier and more flexible, while the 16 mm leaned more stable and controlled.
But this is where the marketing language needs a little restraint.
The original Honeyfoam was not universally described as some giant, automatic sweet spot. Independent measurements put twist weight around 6 on the elongated versions, and multiple testers found that off-center stability could improve with added weight. Some loved the extra dwell. Others found the ball stayed on the face long enough to mess with timing or make touch shots less predictable.
I actually trust the disagreement more than I would a wall of identical praise. Foam placement can change how a paddle flexes and how long the ball seems to stay on the face, but more dwell does not automatically mean more control for every player.
One important distinction: those performance notes are not my own back-to-back test of every Honeyfoam version. I think the reports are useful for showing the pattern, but I would not turn them into my own review of the paddle.
How No.001 Turned Into Today’s Honeyfoam Line

The TKO-X and ESQ should not be read as No.001 with different paint. What carried forward is the Honeyfoam architecture. Paddletek then applied that core idea to different shapes, thicknesses and player needs.
Curiosity can sell one paddle. Building more paddles around the same core idea is harder to dismiss.
What Hindsight Changed
The original version of this article made several predictions while the drop was still new.
Some held up. A couple deserved less attention than I gave them.

What No.001 Taught Us About Limited Paddle Releases
Reserve gave Paddletek a way to put Honeyfoam into players’ hands before building an entire family around it.
That does not mean every limited paddle is secretly a prototype. Sometimes scarcity is just scarcity. A small inventory still creates urgency, and “limited” is still a powerful word when people are worried about missing out.
But when a brand calls a release experimental, the inventory counter is not the only thing worth watching.
The useful question after a limited paddle launch is not only, “Did people buy it?” Ask, “What did the brand keep?”
The next time one of these experimental paddles appears, I am going to pay less attention to whether it disappears in 48 hours and more attention to what shows up in the next two paddles.
Is Reserve HoneyFoam No.001 Still Available?
As of this August 2026 update, Paddletek still lists The Reserve Honeyfoam in its catalog at $249.99.
That is another place where my launch-day assumptions needed correcting. I originally thought the exact No.001 release might disappear quickly once the first inventory was gone. I would not present that assumption as fact today.
If you are shopping rather than studying the history, I would treat No.001 and the current Honeyfoam line as separate decisions. The newer TKO-X and ESQ give you different shapes and thicknesses, so fit matters more than owning the paddle that came first.
Approval status also needs to be checked by exact model and thickness rather than treating “Honeyfoam” as one approval. Some current 14 mm Honeyfoam versions are approved for UPA competition but exceed the threshold for USAP-sanctioned play. That is how I would remember Reserve HoneyFoam No.001 now: not as the paddle people were supposed to hurry up and buy, but as the paddle that gave us an early look at what Paddletek decided was worth keeping.
