6th Annual Event Kicks Off in N.O.: The Big Easy Pickleball Tournament!

Y’all, before there was the NOLA Pickleball Fest, this major pickleball event has been the heart of pickleball in New Orleans, growing the sport and encouraging play. And guess what? Today is the first day of the tournament!

More Fun Than Mardi Gras: The Big Easy Pickleball Tournament!

Now in its sixth year, this ain’t no small gathering, cher. The tournament will host more than 400 players from Aug. 4-6 at the Health Club by Hilton, right on 2 Poydras Street.

This three-day hootenanny accommodates men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles of different skill levels and age groups. Many of the top-ranked players in the region will be there to compete. Although registration has closed, we encourage spectators to come and witness high-level competition and learn more about the sport, all at no cost. Plus, it gives our out-of-town guests the ability to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

A Community Event: The Big Easy Pickleball Tournament

“This major pickleball event has always been a volunteer-driven event, with all proceeds being donated to local nonprofits who are passionate about providing sport opportunities to those who have less access and less opportunities,” said Helen Siegel, one of the organizers. “As the sport grows, so does our tournament, and our outreach to the community.”

A Highlight of New Orleans Sports: The Big Easy Pickleball Tournament!

It’s a great time to be a pickleball fan if you’re a resident of New Orleans or live close by. The Big Easy hosts two major pickleball events in August – this pickleball event and the Nola Pickleball Fest. So don’t forget, just a week later we host the Drew Brees Pickleball Tournament. Ain’t no city does pickleball like NOLA!

Where Champions Are Made: The Big Easy Pickleball Tournament

Now in its sixth year, the tournament will welcome over 400 players from August 4th to 6th at the Health Club by Hilton, located at 2 Poydras Street. The club itself is on the sixth floor of the parking garage.

This three-day event caters to various skill levels and age groups, accommodating men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles competitions. With many of the region’s top-ranked players participating, spectators are in for a treat of high-level competition.

Registration is Full

Once again the registration for the 2023 event filled up fast. While player registration has closed, we warmly encourage spectators to attend the matches free of charge. This is a great opportunity to witness exciting matches and learn more about the sport. Remember this for next year, because the 2024 event will probably not have registration available just as quickly. As soon as registration opens in 2024, you should sign up.

Even if you’re not participating, come on down to the Hilton Riverside to support the participants at the Big Easy Tournament. It’s a great way to get involved in the community and enjoy some top-notch pickleball action!
