2024 Paddles at the Plex: Tournament Information

This summer, the Paddles at the Plex tournament will host 24 covered, individually fenced, and lighted courts. The registration fee is $70, which includes one lunch food voucher and a tournament gift. Each event costs an additional $5.00. In doubles events, both partners must register and pay. This four-day tournament may cap registration at 500 players or by events when the day is full.

Schedule and Format

Thursday (June 20): Senior (60+) men’s doubles and senior women’s singles

Friday (June 21): Men’s singles and women’s doubles

Saturday (June 22): Mixed doubles

Sunday (June 23): Under 60 men’s doubles and under 60 women’s singles

Participants can select up to two events, one based on gender and another mixed event. Players may play down in age but cannot play twice in the same event. Age brackets are 10+, 30+, 45+, 60+, 65+, and 70+. Skill levels include 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+.

Event Format

• Brackets of skill levels 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 will be round robin. Small brackets may be combined, but medals will be awarded for players in all original brackets.
• Whenever possible, brackets of skill level 4.5+ will be double elimination. If there are less than 8 teams in a bracket, it will be round robin.
• Brackets at the upper skill level will be combined if needed/possible for double elimination play. Only one set of medals will be awarded to brackets played in a double elimination format.

All singles matches will be full court singles.

Days may fill before some brackets, which could cause brackets to close based on the daily limit, not the bracket size. Sign up early and complete payment for the entire team. Completed teams (both partners registered and paid) have priority on available slots. Teams not paid in full or without partners may be moved to the waiting list to make room for paid teams.

Registration Information

Entry Fee: $70

Each Event Fee: $5.00 per event

Registration Deadline: Closes at midnight on June 7th

Discount: A $10.00 discount is available for Opelika Pickleball Club members.

All registered players will have member privileges at the Opelika Sportsplex during the tournament.

Prizes and Benefits

• 1st place will receive prizes created by the “Queen of Sparkles”.
• Every player will receive two free alcoholic beverages (must be 21+), lunch, water, and one free entry into raffles.

Additional Information

The Plex is located 1 hour fifteen minutes from Atlanta’s Hartfield Jackson airport. A straight shot down I-85 to Alabama Exit 64. Head west from the exit about 1 mile to the Opelika Sportsplex and Aquatics Center. The two Pickleball Pavilions are located directly behind the main building.

There will be food trucks available for lunch. Please note that no pets or dogs are allowed in the pavilions.

Refund Policy

Player cancellation or withdrawal prior to June 10, 2024, will result in a full refund less a $20.00 administration fee. “Waitlist” players will be provided with an appropriate refund less a $20.00 administrative fee. There will be no cancellation refunds after June 10, 2024. (Please note that the Pickleball brackets service fee, $5-$10, is non-refundable.)

Inclement Weather Policy: This is an outdoor tournament. Although the courts are covered, there could be blowing water issues or court condensation issues. If weather is a factor, we will do all we can to allow play to continue. There will be no refunds or credits due to weather or other uncontrollable events.
