The Snake Slam Pickleball Tournament is coming soon to Baton Rouge. Get ready for an action-packed weekend from January 10th to January 12th, 2025. This tournament will usher in the Year of the Snake with fun, camaraderie, and fierce competition. People that play pickleball from across the region will gather at Stacks Pickleball to celebrate the Lunar New Year with thrilling matches and cultural festivities.

Celebrate the new year in style. Enjoy a dazzling lion dance performance, sample local vendors’ food, and engage in friendly matches all weekend long. This event welcomes players of all skill levels who want to share in the excitement and tradition of pickleball. The Snake Slam Pickleball Tournament aims to build community spirit and enhance the sport’s popularity.

Time to shine! Baton Rouge will feel the excitement from Friday evening until Sunday. Each division will showcase competitive spirit and welcoming camaraderie. Local players and visitors alike will have the opportunity to develop skills, make new connections, and create lasting memories.

Tournament Format

Tournament organizers guarantee each participant at least three matches. Pool play will determine standings, and playoff brackets will follow. This format ensures players get multiple opportunities to test their abilities and adapt their strategies. Each match will follow standard pickleball scoring. Winners will advance to the next round until the top three finishers are determined.

Singles matches will run on Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM. Doubles play will kick off on Saturday, starting at 8 AM and concluding by 6 PM. Mixed divisions will compete on Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM. Meanwhile, junior divisions will begin on Sunday at 3 PM and end by 6 PM.

The first-place finishers in adult divisions will receive a $100 Stacks Gift Card, along with a medal. Second and third-place finishers will also earn medals. Junior winners will take home a $50 gift card. Everyone can celebrate their achievements together during the concurrent Lunar New Year Festival.

All registered players must complete any necessary waivers before match day. Check-in will open one hour before your division’s start time. Arrive early to avoid delays and to warm up on the courts.

Event Highlights

Friday night’s Lunar Festival promises an evening of magic, culture, and community spirit from 6 PM to 10 PM. Watch the mesmerizing lion dance performance at 8:30 PM, performed by @southernlotusliondance. This captivating show will bring good fortune to everyone in attendance.

Additionally, local food vendors will offer mouthwatering dishes for purchase. Enjoy tasty meals while watching matches or waiting for your turn on the court. Courts will remain available for rent throughout the event, so you can practice or play friendly games with friends.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year tradition with special red envelopes (called “lì xì” or “lai see”). Each Snake Slam Pickleball Tournament participant will receive a packet to share with loved ones. These envelopes symbolize prosperity, luck, and a fresh start. More envelopes will be available for purchase in the Pro Shop.

Balls: Pro S1 pickleballs will be used for all matches. They offer consistent bounce and reliable performance.
